Follow live coverage as Aston Villa face Brighton & Hove Albion today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion

Aston Villa and Brighton share the points with a 2-2 draw at Villa Park in the Premier League. The Seagulls, who created 1.09 expected goals, opened the scoring in the first half as Adingra got on the end of a touch from Joao Pedro, and he curled the ball into the far corner beyond Martinez to give them the lead. Aston Villa hit back later in the half as they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Rogers, and Watkins dispatched from 12 yards to level the game. After the break, Emery's side, who produced 1.74 expected goals throughout, took the lead as Rogers latched on to a clever pass from Watkins, and he fired a powerful effort into the bottom corner. Late in the game, Brighton found a leveller as Lamptey arrived in the penalty area to fire home from the edge after some clever play from Joao Pedro. Up next for Villa is a home match against Leicester, while Brighton will host Arsenal. That's all for today, goodbye!
