The 2023/24 Premier League season is under way and you can follow every game and every goal right here with The Independent.

This year sees Manchester City try to defend their crown and claim a historic fourth title in succession. Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering City, who also won the Champions League and FA Cup last season, will have to see off Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and the rest to claim an unprecedented sixth league title in seven years.

Meanwhile Luton Town are making their first appearance in the Premier League, having risen from non-league in an incredible decade of progress. They followed Championship winners Burnley and second-placed Sheffield United in earning promotion to the top flight.

Follow the latest action from the Premier League below.

WHAT A MISS! Jesus blazes over! A desperate scramble ensues from the corner, with Traore only half clearing the ball. Saka swings a great cross towards the back post, where Jesus arrives two yards out to swipe a poor volley over the crossbar! Tomiyasu appeared to get a touch in front of Jesus, perhaps putting the Brazilian off.

POST! Saka beats Toti to a loose ball before sliding a good pass across to Martinelli on the far side of the box. He bends his effort towards the bottom-right corner, beating Bentley's dive but seeing the ball bounce off the upright and away. The Gunners keep it alive as Rice pulls the trigger from 25 yards out, and it deflects wide for a corner!

That is exceptional from Martinelli. Wolves finally find space to break through Semedo, but the Brazil star tracks back all the way to his own corner flag to win a throw for his team. Great work from the winger!

Arsenal have won 50% of their Premier League games in December (86/172), only having a lower win rate in January (48.7%) and November (45.4%) between August and May in the competition. However, they have won their last six in December, their longest such run in the month in the Premier League. They are on course to make a good start to the festive season here.
