Pakistan dominated the opening day of the three-match series against England at Multan, reached 328 for four at the close of play, and were eventually bowled out in the final session of day two for 556.

Ben Duckett sustained a thumb injury taking the final Pakistan wicket with a catch in the slips to dismiss Abrar Ahmed, and did not come out to open the batting. Ollie Pope stepped up in his place and was out for a duck to a stunning catch.

England won 3-0 in the first overseas tour during the ‘Bazball’ era in 2022, but have already found themselves on the back foot with both Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique scoring centuries in the scorching heat.

Brydon Carse made his debut as part of an inexperience seam attack for England, who toiled for a long time out in the heat.
