Tyson Fury will return to the ring on 3 December, when the Briton defends his WBC heavyweight title against compatriot and old rival Derek Chisora at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Following his knockout of Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April, Fury was expected to next take on the winner of August’s rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk, with the victor of that title fight and the “Gypsy King” squaring off to crown an undisputed champion. However, Fury targeted the loser of that bout, after Joshua was outpointed by the unbeaten Ukrainian for the second time in 11 months. Negotiations with “AJ” fell through, though, and Fury has now turned his attention to another British heavyweight in Chisora.

The unbeaten Fury, 34, has already defeated the 38-year-old twice - via decision in 2011 and by TKO in 2014 - and this trilogy bout, reported by The Independent in September, came out of left field. Chisora last fought in July, beating Kubrat Pulev via split decision, six years after losing to the Bulgarian by the same means. Following the announcement of Fury vs Chisora 3 on Thursday, a press conference will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says he has been offered the chance to buy League One club Morecambe.

Fury, who is set for a trilogy fight with old rival Derek Chisora at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 3 December, already has close ties with the Shrimps.

The Gypsy King sponsors the club’s home and away shorts, and he has also invested in training facilities through the Tyson Fury Foundation charity.

The fight with Chisora came after Fury could not agree terms with Anthony Joshua’s camp and it is for that reason the Brit believes he will never fight his compatriot.

He told TalkSPORT: “I don’t think I will ever fight Joshua… they are too hard to deal with.”

And Fury has shed light on how long he believes his career will now last after coming out of retirement.

He added: “I had retirement for four/five months and I didn’t like how it tasted. I’m here until the cows come home. I might have another 10 fights. The only thing that gets me going is boxing.”

Tyson Fury has talked up the threat posed by his next opponent, Derek Chisora, despite his 2-0 winning record against the veteran.

It was announced on Thursday that Fury will defend the WBC heavyweight title against his fellow Briton on 3 December, and a press conference soon followed at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – where the fight will be held.

“In terms of selling Derek Chisora to the fans, I ain’t gotta sell nothing to nobody,” said the unbeaten Fury, 34. “You offer [the fight] to him, boom – he’s sat here. He’s got b***s.”

Tyson Fury has announced an all-British fight for December – though not against the opponent many expected.

Fury has spent the year calling out Anthony Joshua for what would surely have been the biggest domestic fight of all time, but, after no deal was struck, old foe Derek Chisora has stepped in for a clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 3 December.

The pair have fought twice before, making their rivalry a trilogy, though given the one-sided nature of it so far, few will expect this contest to end in anything other than a Fury win.

And here are some of Chisora’s best quips from the press conference:

“The mindset has to be so strong, you don’t understand.”

“I’m a black belt in crazy! The mindset is unbelievable right now, it’s crazy. It’s gonna be toe to toe. I have to knock him out, I’m gonna drop him, yeah. I’ll beat him. I’m gonna knock him out, I’m gonna stop him, 100 per cent.”

“We should get [promoter] Eddie Hearn on the phone and figure out how we’re gonna sell out this stadium.”

“He’s shrunk a little bit. He’s got a chip on his shoulder, Tyson, about ‘AJ’ – and I don’t understand why.”

Here are some key quotes from Fury from the press conference:

“I will do what [Kubrat] Pulev and Usyk and [Joseph] Parker couldn’t; I will knock him out.”

“He says he’s gonna knock me out, I wanna see him do it. If he does, I’ll be the first to congratulate him.”

“I’m gonna go home and have a good Christmas with my family, and Derek can do the same with his.”

“I’m not gonna sit here and call Chisora names. I respect him. I’ve got nothing bad to say about Derek; he’s a good fighting man, and he brings his A game every time. [But] In my reign right now, I’m reigning supreme. I’ll beat him, and then I’ll beat the little middleweight guy [Usyk].”

And of course this fight is going ahead as terms could not be agreed between Fury and compatriot Anthony Joshua. It is a fight fans want to see but the rivals could not get the contract signed.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren said: “Tyson clearly conquered America across his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, and there is also huge demand to stage his fights from sites across the world, [but] Tyson wanted to fight in his home country again this year following his special night at Wembley Stadium in April.

“This brings us to the magnificent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and a match against an old rival in Derek Chisora.

“Derek, also a big favourite with British fans, has reinvented himself in recent years, and Tyson has long stated his wish to fight him for a third time.”
