KSI and Logan Paul will finally fight tonight as their eagerly-anticipated rematch takes place in Los Angeles – and both men are poised to make a pretty penny.
The two YouTubers are technically fighting for the ‘YouTube Championship Belt’ – a fetching red and gold strap initially handed to KSI by London heavyweight Dereck Chisora.
But there’s also a lot of money at stake, too.
Both men will earn a guaranteed $900k, per the Californian State Athletic Commission.
That’s only slightly less than Devin Haney, the WBC lightweight champion of the world, who fights Alfredo Santiago Alvarez on the undercard.
But it’s more than the British WBO super-middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders will earn for his fight with the undefeated Marcelo Esteban Coceres. Saunders – an unbeaten world champion who has defeated the likes of Chris Eubank Jr, Andy Lee and David Lemieux – will make just $750k.
The first fight between KSI and Paul generated a cool $11m – although that doesn’t mean the two men divided the profits 50/50.
This fight is expected to make even more money, with both KSI and Logan Paul able to boost their profits through various sponsorship deals.
Chris Stokel-Walker:
The roof is coming off Staples Centre, regardless of what happens here. You'll notice KSI's shorts are sequined and glistening under the bright lights - I'm told by Liam Chivers that getting them over to the US in one piece was a rigmarole. And the arena is ringing out with KSI chants rolling around the stands.
Round one: KSI 10-9 Logan Paul
KSI swings wildly and catches Logan Paul with a couple of decent overhand rights but it's the American who is trying to get the jab going. He hasn't had too much success with it - KSI's aggression could have won him that first round.
Logan already looks tired!
Chris Stokel-Walker:
That's going to do it for round one - not a bad first showing for professional, sanctioned YouTube boxing, huh?
Round two: KSI 20-18 Logan Paul
KSI's wild punches must be using up an incredible amount of energy, and every time he goes in he could be caught clean. Logan is sticking to his jab and isn't over-committing to anything just yet.
KSI is landing the heavier, more eye-catching shots from what I can see! Another round to the Brit...
Chris Stokel-Walker:
Round two is done and there's one thing you have to say: what these two lack in finesse (as Eddie Hearn himself has said) they make up for in passion.
There's a slightly surreal moment as the crowds thronged on the floor cast their eyes up to the big screens above the ring to relive every blow of each round, ooh and aahing along the way.
Chris Stokel-Walker:
KSI lands a number of blows and takes Paul down. He looks incredulously up at the referee, and the crowd are asked to sit down by security.
Just to confirm, that was not deemed a knockdown by the referee.
Round three: KSI 30-27 Logan Paul
Logan Paul appears to be backing away at times here and KSI's wild swings seem to be backing up the American, he doesn't really know how to deal with them.
I have this as one way traffic right now!
Chris Stokel-Walker
At the end of the third round Paul was once again left scrambling, and as soon as the bell rang KSI's front row held their hands up in unison, three fingers in the air. They think their man has swept every round so far.
