Dillian Whyte has moved into contention for a rematch with Anthony Joshua after winning his grudge match with Dereck Chisora by devastatingly stopping his rival in the 11th round.

Two years after narrowly outpointing his opponent, Whyte demonstrated his improvement and furthered Chisora's decline by leaving him unconscious for a worryingly long time at London's 02 Arena.

He was expected to be confirmed as the next challenger to Joshua at Wembley on April 13, but potentially faces an anxious wait while the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion considers instead fighting in the US for the first time.

Whyte will regardless remain at world-level as one of the division's leading contenders and a likely future challenger to Joshua, but if he is forced to wait could struggle to maintain the impressive momentum he has built.

The way Chisora's head heavily hit the canvas after Whyte's powerful left hook landed secured the latest damaging defeat of what has already been a difficult career, meaning that at 34 and with fewer options he should consider retirement.

Pretty big night tonight for a certain David Price.

A number of knockout losses have derailed his career and as seems to be said so often, this is surely last chance saloon for the 35-year-old, who faces Tom Little.

Speaking to Boxing News, he has taken a look at what happens beyond tonight's fight.

There’s Dave Allen, Lucas Browne, those type of fights, they’re dead easy to make, on my side anyway. I provide excitement at least, I’m a big heavyweight, people know me. I’m sure the opportunities will be there… I’d like to rematch Christian Hammer because I know I have the beating of him.

I can definitely hurt people because I’ve proved even in my defeats I’ve had people hurt. My power is there. I just need to be a bit more conclusive with it and end fights with it. It’s landing shots and having the engine to jump on it, which I didn’t have in the last fight, the [Alexander] Povetkin fight he was saved by the bell. I’ll have it now.

It’s a confidence thing and a momentum thing.

With Joshua ringside tonight and an April 13th Wembley night ready and waiting for an opponent - could the unified heavyweight champion face the winner of tonight's main event?

If Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury decide to have their rematch first, that seems the most likely outcome.

That isn't bothering Whyte though.

I don't care. AJ can do what he wants. I've got my own thing to focus on. This is my night so I'm not bothered by who's at ringside, or what they're doing. I'm focused on one thing at a time.

Whether he cares to admit it or not, he will certainly have one eye on that prize.
