From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Dillian Whyte has moved into contention for a rematch with Anthony Joshua after winning his grudge match with Dereck Chisora by devastatingly stopping his rival in the 11th round.
Two years after narrowly outpointing his opponent, Whyte demonstrated his improvement and furthered Chisora's decline by leaving him unconscious for a worryingly long time at London's 02 Arena.
He was expected to be confirmed as the next challenger to Joshua at Wembley on April 13, but potentially faces an anxious wait while the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion considers instead fighting in the US for the first time.
Whyte will regardless remain at world-level as one of the division's leading contenders and a likely future challenger to Joshua, but if he is forced to wait could struggle to maintain the impressive momentum he has built.
The way Chisora's head heavily hit the canvas after Whyte's powerful left hook landed secured the latest damaging defeat of what has already been a difficult career, meaning that at 34 and with fewer options he should consider retirement.

Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte are now both in the press conference room.
Dereck Chisora:
It was a great fight. I enjoyed it from round one until it ended. Am I upset with this loss? No, I'm not really because when you get knocked out its much better than losing on points. Fair doos to my opponent, he landed first and I found myself on the floor.
Will you retire?
We’ll bounce back. There’s fights out there, it’s not like I suffered a terrible loss or it was a crappy fight. It was a great fight and I enjoyed it.
David Haye:
Dereck Chisora did exactly what he said he was going to do and came for war and brought the heat. We promised it would be a fantastic fight and we did not lie. There was no feeling each other out, no easing into the fight, just all out war.
The game plan was working perfectly. He was pushing the pace, never taking a backwards step. I don’t know what the second point deduction was for. It seemed in a tight fight like that, it felt from ringside that Dereck really needed to do something [after that] and he started trading and he got caught with a beautiful left hook.
Dereck Chisora:
I think Dillian should get a world title shot. I don't know why he hasn't boxed for it but he deserved his shot.
Having boxed 23 rounds with Dillian, do you think he's good enough to win it?
Yeah, it's boxing, anyone's good enough.
Is this partnership set to continue?
If Dereck wants to continue boxing, to learn and progress - he learnt a lesson here tonight, when you have points deducted you don't have to automatically chase it. You learn that lesson and it won't happen again. As far as I'm concerned I'll help Dereck as much as he needs.
