Canelo vs Charlo LIVE: Result as Alvarez retains undisputed titles

Canelo corners Charlo and just about lands an overhand right. An “oooooo” rings around the arena as Canelo misses with a wild left hook! Good head movement from Charlo to roll under it.

A chopping right hand is on point for Canelo, and it almost looked like Charlo’s legs buckled slightly there...

Charlo’s corner, including coach Derrick James, insists that Canelo is tired. “Get after him!”

Canelo has definitely slowed down a little after throwing so much heavy output in the first half of the fight.

“You’ve got to go all out,” James tells Charlo after the round ends. “You’re losing the fight, so what do you wanna do? Go and stop him, he’s tired now!”

There’s a delay to the start of this round, as a bit of water is wiped away in one of the corners.

Charlo unloads a few jabs and a left hook, though Canelo blocks the worst of those shots. The Mexican misses with a left hook of his own upstairs, but he lands one to the body a few moments later.

Charlo jabs up top then launches a hook to the body. Good work. Canelo fires back, however, with hooks off both wings.

Charlo, despite that knockdown in Round 7, is able to conjure some decent work in this frame.

Even so, Canelo remains on the front foot, refusing to let up on his challenger.

Charlo misses after loading up big on a right hook. He follows up with a decent combination, however. This is better from the challenger.

OH! Just as I say that, he’s tagged by a brutal overhand right and buckles! He seems okay, but then takes a knee a moment later!

That’s just the second time in his career that he’s been down! He’s back up and looking to hold Canelo! Still plenty of time in this round...

In that last round, Charlo landed the most punches that he’s managed in any frame so far tonight (9) but was still outlanded by Canelo (14).

Canelo comes forward and careens a right hook into the body of his challenger. Slick head movement by Charlo to roll under a hook attempt. Now the American lands a long left hand to the head!

Canelo retaliates with a couple of overhand rights. Even when they’re blocked, they have an effect.

“Ca-nel-o” is the chant in the T-Mobile Arena. Alvarez blocks a right hand then eats a grazing left from Charlo.

Canelo ends the round in strong fashion, landing a combination with Charlo against the ropes.

“Don’t get overconfident, we’re doing well,” Canelo is told by his coach.

Charlo sticks behind his jab and again looks for that left hook. He’s also trying to hold Canelo as much as possible when the Mexican gets close.
