Your support helps us to tell the story

My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.

Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.

Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Kamala Harris is speaking to Oprah Winfrey on Thursday evening in Michigan for a major campaign fundraiser with people joining online as well as an in-studio audience.

The “Unite for America” live stream event started at 8pm ET.

Meanwhile, the latest AP/NORC poll shows Harris pulling ahead of Donald Trump as the candidate of whom voters have a more positive view.

Specifically, the vice president scores higher on where she is “tough enough to be president”, “would change the country for the better”, and “would fight for people like you”.

The former president meanwhile scores highest on “will say anything to win the election”.

Trump delivered his latest rally in Uniondale on Long Island, New York, on Wednesday, pledging to “bring back religion” to thank God for saving his life, and asking New Yorkers to vote for him by saying: “What the hell do you have to lose?”

The Republican nominee also pledged to visit Springfield, Ohio, after he and running mate JD Vance spread a bogus story about Haitian immigrants stealing and eating residents’ pets, inspiring a spate of bomb threats.

Vance boasts he’ll keep calling Springfield Haitians ‘illegal aliens’ even though he knows they aren’t

Sounding totally like someone who voters should trust, JD Vance has said he will continue to call Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio “illegal” aliens despite knowing that they’re here legally.

Gustaf Kilander has the story.

Harris to meet Zelensky next week, report says

Per CNN:

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington, DC, next week, according to three sources familiar with the planning.

The meeting comes amid concerns over the impact the American election results will have on the Russia-Ukraine war and US policy toward Ukraine as it seeks additional resources.

Asked Wednesday whether Harris will meet with Zelensky next week, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby suggested she might if the opportunity presented itself.

Harris has met face to face with the Ukrainian president on a couple of occasions as well as spoken to him by phone. Donald Trump said he would “probably” meet with Zelensky next week — which would be their first in-person meeting since Trump left office and since and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Harris will also join President Joe Biden on Monday for a meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, at the White House to discuss ongoing tensions in the Middle East, the crisis in Sudan and other bilateral and regional matters.

Watch: Hillary Clinton weighs in on election as ‘contest between freedom and oppression'

Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has weighed in on the state of the 2024 election during an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, calling it: “A contest between freedom and oppression, democracy and autocracy, bringing people together and further dividing us.”

She added: “And that's what has to be communicated every single day between now and the election."

Regarding Donald Trump, she said: “Now the stakes are even higher because he has a record. We have seen him try to abuse power... And in addition to that, he's told us what he's going to do.”

Oh well if the Pied Piper of Brexit says it...

Nigel Farage believes there is some truth in Donald Trump’s claim that Haitian migrants are eating pets in Ohio. The former US president made the claim during a live ABC debate with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier this month. The Reform MP said he believes there is some truth to Trump’s comments. Appearing on LBC on Thursday (19 September), Mr Farage said: “Whenever he says something like this that is absoluley crackers in the end there is always some truth in it. “I’ll have a tenner with you that within the next month we find some evidence of it.”

This was the Republican presidential nominee yesterday, attempting to promote his new World Liberty Financial venture by buying himself a burger with a digital coin – he’s certainly come a long way since declaring cryptocurrency “a scam”, “not money” and “based on thin air” in 2019.
