Vice President Kamala Harris speaks on cost of living, reproductive rights, and immigration during event with Oprah Winfrey
Your support helps us to tell the story
My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.
Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.
Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Kamala Harris said during an event alongside Oprah Winfrey on Thursday evening that she would shoot an intruder in her home.
During a discussion about gun violence, Winfrey brought up the fact that Harris revealed herself to be a gun owner during the debate against former President Donald Trump on September 10.
“I did not know that,” Winfrey said to laughter from the in-studio audience at the event entitled “Unite for America.”
“If somebody breaks into my house they’re getting shot,” Harris said, laughing, and added: “I probably should not have said that... my staff will deal with that later.”
A star-studded cast took part in the event in Michigan, including Bryan Cranston, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Jennifer Lopez, Tracee Ellis Ross, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep.
Harris took the stage in Michigan alongside Winfrey to address the cost of living, reproductive rights, immigration, and gun violence during an event calling on people to register to vote.
Meanwhile, the latest AP/NORC poll shows Harris pulling ahead of Donald Trump as the candidate of whom voters have a more positive view.

‘Black Nazi’ and ‘perv’: Stunning report details NC Republican candidate’s posts about self on porn forum
North Carolina’s Republican candidate for governor, Mark Robinson, referred to himself as a “black Nazi” and said “slavery is good,” among other shocking remarks, on a porn forum, according to reporting from CNN’s KFile.
Earlier on Thursday, independent journalist Bryan Anderson had said that Robinson’s campaign was bearing down a negative story about to break. A few hours later, CNN’s KFile reported that he had an account on a porn site called “Nude Africa” where the anti-transgender conservative admitted that “I like watching tranny on girl porn!”
The social conservative, who has taken a stance against promiscuity in the past, wrote: “yeah, I’m a perv too,” and reportedly said on the same site when told that a celebrity had had an abortion: “I don’t care. I just wanna see the tape!”
Robinson denies the allegations and told CNN that the account they had found on the porn site was not his.

How Project 2025 became Trump’s worst nightmare
John Bowden reports for The Independent:
These days, “Project 2025” is nothing but a dirty word (or pair of words) to staffers on Donald Trump’s third bid for the presidency. After months of negative coverage and attacks from Democrats, Trump and his top aides are both engaged in a conscious effort to distance the former president from the project whenever possible. That effort drew to a heated pitch this summer as top Trump campaign officials Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles released a statement crowing over the resignation of a top Project 2025 operative and declaring the various groups involved with the plan to be speaking on the former president’s behalf without his permission.
This wasn’t supposed to be how the election went at all. The question remains: How did the Heritage Foundation and the other conservative groups behind Project 2025 fumble the bag this badly?

Giddy NYU students are sharing blurry videos of Barron sightings on social media
Barron Trump, youngest son of the former president, started his freshman year at New York University earlier this month - sparking a flurry of TikTok videos of the 18-year-old making his way around campus, trailed by Secret Service agents.
Fellow NYU students have been taking and sharing videos of Barron, aptly described by WIRED as “Sasquatch-esque”: short, frantic, blurry clips of the elusive 6’9” freshman making his way to class. Many of these videos are posted then reposted, with users making their own edits and setting them to background music.

“My kids keep me humble,” Sanders, who also served as White House Press Secretary under Trump, said at the event. “Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”
Emhoff was quick to speak out against the comments on social media on Tuesday night.
