Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The moderators tries to move the discussion on, there’s some squabbling among the candidates, and Kamala Harris cuts through the noise.
"Americans don’t want to watch a foodfight", she says. "They want to know how they will be able to put food on the table”. Big cheer.
Bernie, Biden and Harris dominating at the moment.
Very personal from Joe Biden, he talks about the cancer fights in his family.
He talks up Obamacare and says it should be kept.
Bernie Sanders says other nations are spending less and are covering every person
He hits out at the corporate healthcare system.
The candidates are asked if they would support Medicare for All, to the extent of abolishing private healthcare.
Last night, when the Democrats were asked the same question, Elizabeth Warren was the only one to raise her hand.
Tonight, Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris are the ones.
Marianne Williamson rails against the health care system
“We don’t have a health care system in the United States. We have a sickness care system in the United States,” the activist and author said.
Not many direct attacks against Mr Biden yet, that is not what was expected.
The lower-polling candidates are not getting much of a look-in, certainly not as much as last night.
You can tell a few are getting frustrated.
