From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rudy Giuliani’s daughter has endorsed Joe Biden for president and urged America to end Donald Trump’s “reign of terror".

Caroline Giuliani, whose father is the president’s personal lawyer, wrote in Vanity Fair that the “only way to end this nightmare” was to elect Mr Biden to the White House.

“There is hope on the horizon, but we’ll only grasp it if we elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris,” she wrote.

Ms Giuliani said she grew up debating politics with her father, one of the president’s most vocal supporters, but endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016.

"As a child, I saw firsthand the kind of cruel, selfish politics that Donald Trump has now inflicted on our country," Ms Giuliani wrote.

“It’s taken persistence and nerve to find my voice in politics, and I’m using it now to ask you to stand with me in the fight to end Donald Trump’s reign of terror.”

Ms Giuliani also wrote that her experience growing up with the former mayor of New York City had taught her that "corruption starts with 'yes-men' and women.”

“If being the daughter of a polarising mayor who became the president's personal bulldog has taught me anything, it is that corruption starts with 'yes-men' and women, the cronies who create an echo chamber of lies and subservience to maintain their proximity to power," she wrote.

“We've seen this ad nauseam with Trump and his cadre of high-level sycophants (the ones who weren't convicted, anyway).”

In recent days Mr Giuliani has been a central figure in the controversial Hunter Biden email story run by the New York Post.

Mr Giuliani is credited with bringing the story to the New York tabloid, although Mr Biden’s campaign has denied any impropriety and Facebook and Twitter tried to limit its spread.
