Murder victims in Idaho white supremacist prison break ID’d as men aged 83 and 72: Latest
Police investigating whether white supremacist fugitives are responsible for killings, one of which may have been a carjacking
The identities of the two men who were possibly murdered in connection with an Idaho prison escape have been released by officials.
The bodies of James L Mauney, 83, from the Juliaetta area and Gerald Don Henderson, 72 were found as officials searched for 31-year-old Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour, an inmate and a man who had been recently released.
Mr Henderson died from an apparent gunshot wound but his manner of death is pending an autopsy investigation. Mr Mauney was carjacked by the men as he was walking his dogs. His body was found near his home.
Thursday afternoon, police captured Meade, who is aligned with a white supremacist group, and Umphenour near Leland, Idaho.
The episode started around 2.15am on Wednesday. Meade escaped a Boise hospital where he was seeking treatment for an apparent self-inflicted injury. As officers worked to transport the man back to the prison, Umphenour pulled up to the ambulance bay and began shooting allowing Meade to escape into his car.

Boise Police Department hosted a press conference to update the public about the escaped inmate and accomplice at 2:45pm Mountain Time / 4:45 pm Eastern Time on Thursday.

Charges revealed for Skylar Meade and Tonia Huber after inmate escape
Skylar Meade, Tonia Huber and Nicholas Umphenour appeared in court on Friday after officials arrested them the day before following Meade’s prison break earlier this week.
Huber, 52, was found with Meade as officials took him into custody. She’s been charged with harbouring a fugitive, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, possession of a controlled substance, another felony, and eluding police.
Meade has been charged with felony escape, with his bond set at $2m.
Police release photo of one of the murder victims
Officials with the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office released a photo of one of the men state police said was killed in connection with the prison escape this week.
James L Mauney, 83, was walking his white Jack Russell and brown Chesapeake Bay Retriever on Wednesday when he encountered Skylar Meade and Nicholas Umphenour, police said. He was wearing sweat pants, a yellow flannel, white shoes and a bucket hat.
The men then carjacked the man’s 2019 Silver Chrysler Pacifica. His body was found in a desolate area near Leland.
Police believe the suspects travelled through Montana
Officials said in a press release that the two fugitives may have travelled through Missoula, Montana during Skylar Meade’s escape, which is nearly eight hours away from the hospital in Boise where he broke free from custody.
Nicholas Umphenour also confirmed member of Aryan Knights gang
The Associated Press reports that the man that help Skylar Meade escape was also a member of the Aryan Knights gang and had recently been released from prison.
Officials have also released two mugshots for the men following their capture.
An unidentified woman was taken into custody during inmate’s arrest
According to the Idaho State Police, an unidentified 52-year-old woman was taken into custody on charges related to Meade’s flight from the residence. She was booked into the Twin Falls County Jail.
