A teenager is among two people dead after a mass shooting in Baltimore.
An 18-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 20-year-old man was pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital, police said. A further 28 people were injured, including three who were left in critical condition.
Nine victims were transported to area hospitals after being found with gunshot wounds by police.
Police said the gunman remains at large and were unclear on a possible motive. Baltimore Police Department acting commissioner Richard Worley said investigators were “working an extensive crime scene.”
The shooting took place in the 800 block of Gretna Avenue early Sunday morning.
Hundreds of people were gathered in the area for an event called “Brooklyn Day,” a witness told TV station Fox 45, adding that they had heard 20 to 30 shots fired
Mayor Brandon Scott described the shooting as “reckless” and “cowardly”.
“We will not stop until we find you—and we will find you,” Mr Scott said, speaking about the perpetrator.
‘Treat this as if it were your family,’ says Baltimore mayor
Baltimore mayor Brandon Scott has condemned a mass shooting which killed two and injured 28 people in the city.
“Treat this as if it were your family,” Mr Scott said. “How you would want people to treat it if you were mourning, if this was your neighborhood, if this was an event in your community that this happened at.
“We want you to treat it that way because that’s how we have to treat each other as Baltimoreans.”
No arrests have been made. Meanwhile, police said the gunman remains at large, but clarified there is no motive at this time.

Nine critically injured as eight patients released from hospital following shooting
Medstar Harbor Hospital’s emergency department treated 19 patients on Sunday morning, all suffering varying degrees of injury from gunshot wounds after the incident, MedStar Health Baltimore told Reuters in an emailed response.
“Nine critically injured patients were stabilized and transferred to Baltimore trauma centers,” it said, adding that all but one patient had been released.

A number of officers remain on the scene, hours after the shooting, working behind police tape amid densely packed two-story housing blocks.
Folding tables and plastic cups were seen scattered around the scene, apparently left behind when people ran from the gunshots.
The violence comes as federal prosecutors in Baltimore this week touted their efforts to reduce violent crime in the city.
Police have reported nearly 130 homicides and close to 300 shootings so far this year, though that’s down from the same time last year. Authorities have vowed to crack down aggressively on repeat violent offenders.
Baltimore mayor asks for public assistance in locating suspect, vows to fight gun violence
Mayor Brandon Scott of Baltimore has asked the public for help locating the shooter who killed two and injured nearly thirty more during a mass shooting early Sunday.
Mr Scott said the suspect was still at large and asked anyone with information on the individual to come forward to Baltimore police.
“This investigation is ongoing, and we will not rest until the people responsible are held accountable. This tragedy again shows why we must continue to focus on the amount of illegal guns on our streets that make it into the hands of individuals who should not have them and continuously carry out violent acts in our city,” he wrote. “There must be accountability at each level of the illegal gun trade from those using them, those trafficking them to those who manufacture them in ways they know will lead to violence. I’m asking that anyone who has information on who committed this cowardly, violent act to come forward and help us secure justice for the Brooklyn community.”
Seven wounded in Wichita
Seven people were wounded overnight in a mass shooting at a nightlcub in Wichita, Kansas.
No one was killed, according to the Wichita Police Department.
In addition to the seven wounded, two other individuals were trampled as patrons attempted to flee the venue. They survived and are being treated for their injuries, acording to the department.
The shooting is still under investigation. Police in Wichita have detained one individual for questioning but have not identified a suspect at the time of this report.
