Margot Robbie plans to give the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a warm welcome as they make their transition to North America.

On Saturday, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood star opened up about her friendship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, revealing that the couple “have their reasons” for stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

“I have known Prince Harry for a while and he is a really great guy,” Robbie told The Sun, before admitting she could relate to their situation.

The Oscar-nominated actor lived in London for many years before settling in Los Angeles with her husband Tom Ackerley.

“I know as much as anybody what a big decision it is to move halfway across the world,” she said.

“I still miss London a lot but I had my reasons for moving and they have their reasons for the decision.”

“It isn’t something taken lightly.”

Margot continued, sharing that her and her husband would be more than happy to go on a double date with the Sussexes should they decide to spend some time on the West Coast.

“If they are going to spend more time in L.A., we would love to have dinner with them,” Robbie said.

The Birds of Prey star’s dinner invitation comes after Madonna offered Meghan and Harry the chance to rent her New York apartment.

Earlier this month, the “Material Girl” singer posted a short video to Instagram in which she offered up her two bedroom Upper West Side apartment to the royal couple in a bid to stop them moving to Canada.

“Don’t run off to Canada, it’s so boring there,” Madonna said.

“I’ll let them sublet my apartment in Central Park West, it’s two bedroom. It’s got the best view of Manhattan, with the best balcony.”

The pop singer added: “That’s going to be a winner. That’s going to be a deal breaker.

“Buckingham Palace has got nothing on CPW [Central Park West].”

In January, the royal couple announced plans to step back from their roles as senior royals and work towards financial independence.

The move prompted the Queen to organise a crisis summit regarding their future roles, where it was decided there would be a “period of transition” which will see them living in Canada and the UK.

In a statement, the Queen said that the royal family “respect and understand” their “desire to create a new life as a young family”.
