From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

American Vogue has released the official photos of the cover and the pull out cover spread of their anticipated September issue, starring nine supermodels of the moment.

September is the January of fashion, meaning that this month’s issue of glossy magazines are the biggest and most exciting of the year. Vogue in particular is the one the industry awaits for with excitement, but it’s also usually one of the last issues to come out.

This year’s September cover has been revealed, first leaked on social media a couple days ago, and then officially released today.

The cover features models Joan Smalls, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, Arizona Muse, Edie Campbell, Imaan Hammam, Fei Fei Sun, Vanessa Axente, and Andreea Diaconu. They’re all savvy on the internet, are building their brands and even trademarking their names – just like Cara Delevingne did.

These models have moved with time and fit into this generation’s more modern version of a supermodel. Delevingne, for example, has over six million followers on Instagram, Karlie Kloss over a million and Joan Smells almost half a million. These three models are the ones who appear first on the cover, touted as The Instagirls, which then unfolds to reveal the other six supermodels fronting the most exciting issue of the year.

Shot by legendary fashion and royal photographer Mario Testino, the models appear with their hair up, wearing glamorous gowns and looking flawless. As Vogue describes them, these ladies are the “models of the moment wearing the clothes of the season”. This, however, is not the first time that Vogue has featured nine models in a pull out cover for their September issue. A decade ago the publication featured a cover with nine models of the likes of Daria Werbowy, Natalia Vodianova and Gisele Bündchen for its 2004 edition. The 856-pages issue is set to be available in the newsstands later this month.
