From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Fashion month never fails to provide us with some memorable celebrity moments but these are typically confined to the comfort of the front row.
However, a handful of A-listers have been known to ditch their day jobs for a spot of sartorial side hustling.
In previous years, celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Elle Fanning and Kylie Jenner have graced the catwalks of some of the industry’s biggest designers, and for autumn/winter 2019, even more stars were subbed in for models.
At New York Fashion Week, we saw actors including Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones, Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black, and Greta Lee from Netflix’s Russian Doll make an appearance on the runway.
Meanwhile, Philipp Plein’s show was taken over by an influx of musicians from Columbian singer Maluma to rapper Lil Pump and guitarist Luke Hemmings.
Elsewhere, supermodel Christy Turlington made a surprise appearance at Marc Jacobs, closing the show in a voluminous black taffeta gown.
Across the pond at London Fashion Week, A-listers-turned-models included actor Chloë Sevigny, who walked the runway at Simone Rocha and Gigi Hadid, who made an appearance on the catwalk at Burberry to present Riccardo Tisci's second collection for the brand.
