While last year’s sentimental advert told the tale of Elton John’s life and career, from receiving a piano as a gift in his childhood to performing his music to sold-out stadiums, the retailer's latest offering follows an excitable dragon called Edgar and his best friend Ava.
This year John Lewis & Partners has shaken things up by collaborating with Waitrose & Partners to launch a joint Christmas advert for the very first time.
Previous tear-jerking campaigns have included “The Journey”, which followed a snowman as he sought his long-lost love, and “The Man on the Moon”, which depicted an elderly lonely man in solitude on the moon.

Several brands have already released their Christmas adverts this year, including Sainsbury's, Boots and Amazon. The Amazon ad was particularly well-received, depicting a Love Actually-style story with singing delivery boxes.
The other day, eagle-eyed Twitter users spotted a 10-second video on the social media platform, featuring a peculiarly-shaped doorknob.
The tweet read: "Meet Edgar. 14.11.19 #ExcitableEdgar."
This prompted some to assume the teaser video has something to do with John Lewis' Christmas campaign.
Several Twitter users have expressed their impatience when waiting for the John Lewis Christmas ad to drop.
"If the John Lewis Christmas advert could come out soon that'd be great," one person tweeted.
"Am I the only one thinking where the HELL is this John Lewis Christmas advert?" another wrote.
