From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Our pets have certainly been treated recently, from the stylish Zara Home collection of cosy blankets and colourful leads to Aldi’s pet range, featuring fun toys and dapper dog coats

We all know that Aldi’s Specialbuys aisle is the place to bag a bargain, whether it’s the budget supermarket’s rattan furniture range that rivals designer collections or its sell-out egg chair that is perfect for summer.

Now, following the success of Aldi’s Insta-worthy scalloped dog beds and arriving just in time for the warmer weather, the new Specialbuys PetKit pet water fountain will ensure your furry friend stays hydrated throughout the more balmy days.

Making sure your pet stays hydrated and cool is as important as ever during spring and summer, with drinking fountains a widely recommended solution.

Praised by vets and pet owners alike, automatic fountains are a great way to encourage your pet to drink while the running water gives mental stimulation, too.

Proving especially popular among dogs and cats, research has shown animals tend to be more inclined to drink from a stream or running water than a bowl.

The automatic pet fountain is a steal at £34.99 and previous online exclusives have sold out fast – so be quick to treat your pooch with the gadget on Thursday once the fountain becomes available.

With the brand claiming it’s ideal for pet owners, this handy fountain will help make sure your furry friend stays hydrated and cool. Increased hydration – warm weather regardless – is essential for helping prevent the occurrence of urinary and kidney disease in pets.

Water circulates throughout the day, meaning it stays fresher for longer, while the smart device’s triple purifying system cleans and purifies the water using an activated carbon filter and an ion-exchange resin feature.

Unlike some automated pet feeders or waterers, the brand says the fountain boasts an ultra-silent design, while its muted appearance won’t look out of place in the corner of your kitchen.

The pet gadget has a useful LED reminder that automatically lights up when the water threshold drops below a certain level and the filter needs changing.

The fountain also automatically switches off once it’s run out of water, preventing motor burnout.

The bowl holds an impressive 2l. The device is mains powered and easily cleaned once unplugged. With its two different running modes – smart or normal – you can decide which best suits you and your pet’s needs.
