From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kendall Jenner’s transition from reluctant childhood reality star to supermodel has been filled with many memorable fashion moments – from the leopard print halterneck dress she wore aged 11 in the promo shots for Keeping Up With The Kardashians, to the countless show-stopping couture gowns she has sported on red carpets since.

Having also walked on runways for the likes of Marc Jacobs, Balmain and Chanel, to name just a few, it’s safe to say that the star has taken the fashion world by storm.

But it isn’t just her modelling gigs that have got her noticed over the years. Kendall’s chic off-duty ensembles have also won her major style points in our book, but, as a fan of luxury labels, it’s rare that us mere mortals get to recreate any of her outfits. Until now, that is.

This weekend, the model was photographed in New York wearing a retro-inspired ensemble that featured one of this season’s key trends: the sweater vest.

A style that made a bold return for autumn/winter 2020, the sleeveless knit is here to stay for spring (and beyond) and counts several other stylish celebrities as fans, including Kaia Gerber and Bella Hadid.

The ideal garment for transitional dressing, Kendall’s vest features 1970s-inspired hues and was paired with dark khaki trousers, a green Burberry Olympia bag, socks and sensible loafers.

But, while her outfit looked seriously expensive, fans of the star will be surprised to learn that the knit is actually an affordable high street buy.

Costing just £30, the vest is from popular fashion brand Mango and is currently still in stock. If you want to recreate the look, read on to find out how you can get your hands on the stylish buy before it sells out, which we predict it will do fast.

In recent months, Mango has become the go-to destination for some of the most stylish women around. Just ask Gigi Hadid and Diane Kruger, who have both shown their allegiance to the high-street label by adding its sell-out oversized wool coat to their wardrobes.

A reliable brand that delivers sleek staples at affordable prices, this sweater vest is the perfect example of why Mango has become a mainstay for fashion aficionados.

Made from a wool-blend, it’s an ideal layering piece for cooler, spring days, as showcased by Kendall herself, who wore hers over the top of a baggy white Oxford shirt.

Meanwhile, its cable-knit finish and sunset colourway of orange, yellow and grey stripes also expertly taps into another top trend that’s been dominating the fashion world for some time: Seventies nostalgia. While we predict it will be a sell-out, the vest is currently still available to buy in sizes XS to M.

For those who are looking for warm-weather loungewear options, the vest also comes with matching knitted shorts (£29.99, Mango.com).
