Now that you’ve opened your presents, eaten Christmas lunch (plus all the leftovers in the evening), drunk all the sherry and are settled in for a day on the sofa, turn your attention to one of the biggest shopping events of the year: the Boxing Day sales.

It’s often one of the best times to bag yourself a bargain, so we’re here to make sure you don’t miss out on great offers across clothes, beauty, tech, toys, home appliances and more.

While long queues in the early hours of the morning outside high street stores are usually synonymous with the sales at this time of year, recently the day has become more of an online shopping event with big-name brands slashing prices on its end of year stock.

The 2020 sale is set to be bigger than ever after a boom in online shopping during the coronavirus lockdown when we were unable to get to the shops. Due to the ongoing pandemic, in-store shopping will not look the same this year as different lockdown measures and tier restrictions across the country mean many people will continue to shop from the comfort of their sofa.

Throughout the day, we’ll be bringing you the best deals from big-name brands including Apple, Amazon, Currys PC World and Simba. We’ve done the hard work for you so you can snap up all the biggest offers from high-street stalwarts John Lewis, Debenhams, Habitat, Boots and many more.

So whether you’re looking for a Fitbit, Nintendo Switch Lite or Dyson vacuum cleaner, follow our live blog for the latest updates and hottest deals.

Our IndyBest team has hand-picked every deal featured here. We may earn some commission from the links in this article, but our selections have been made independently and without bias. This revenue helps to fund journalism across The Independent.

How long do Boxing Day sales last?

(The Independent)

The Boxing Day and January sales are the last of the year, and your final opportunity to snap up a bargain before Amazon Prime Day comes around again, traditionally held in the summer, and Black Friday in November.

While Boxing Day sales traditionally began on, you guessed it, Boxing Day, in recent years many retailers have started to kick off their deals earlier, some even before Christmas Day, which we saw happen again this year.

Many of these deals will then continue for most of January, with some discounts getting even better as the month progresses, as retailers will be keen to get rid of stock. However, some retailers only host flash, one-day sales, such as Feel Unique.

London is currently in tier 4 with all non essential retail closed and people being urged to stay at home, on what is usually one of the busiest retail days of the year with the traditional Boxing Day sales in shops.

Save a huge 40 per cent on Amazon’s hugely popular smart speaker in the online giant’s Boxing Day sale. The echo dot has had a re-vamp recently, and this latest version has improved sound and design.

(Amazon)

The earlier third generation model impressed our reviewer in our round-up of the best smart speakers. They said: “It can do all the Alexa-related stuff of the most advanced speakers such as answering questions, turning smart home gadgets on or off, and so on. Radio, podcasts and audio books all sound good, with clear vocals. Echo devices can make audio calls to one another and these work well, too.” We imagine this latest version is even more impressive.

Known for its durable cooking pots, pans and utensils, Le Creuset is pricey but with investing in kitchen equipment that will last you years. This dish appeared in our guide to the best casserole dishes, which our reviewer said: “The pan is certainly versatile, it can be used on a range of hobs, agas and even the barbecue for a range of dishes, whether it’s a bolognese, a leg of meat or bog-standard casserole (although nothing is bog standard when it comes to Le Creuset).”

Reduced down to £232, this is a statement addition to any kitchen.
