Microsoft has kicked off its early Black Friday sale, dropping discounts of up to 28 per cent across its new Surface Laptop range. While far from the cheapest laptop deal you’re going to find, this is a big saving on a premium device. If you’ve been eyeing up Microsoft’s rival to the MacBook, now’s your chance to grab one for less.

I’m a big fan of the Surface Laptop, featuring it on my round-up of the best laptops of 2024. The device is as near to a MacBook-style experience as you’ll find on any Windows laptop. Meanwhile, the minimalist design, unified and streamlined software, and premium build quality all scream top-tier, with none of the usual bloatware and tacked-on apps found in other high-end Windows laptops.

The Xbox Series X has also received a price cut ahead of the Black Friday sale, albeit a small one. I’ve rounded up the best Black Friday deals on the Xbox in my article below. There are also discounts on the wireless controller and internal storage cards, as well as games such as FC 25 and Death Stranding.

While it’s not the cheapest price I’ve seen the Xbox Series S fall to, Amazon’s currently the only retailer with a discount on the Xbox Series S right now.

Already good value, the Xbox Series S is a more compact console than the beefier Xbox Series X. They have the same CPU, but the Series X has a more powerful GPU. They can both play next-gen games, however.

I absolutely love Philips Hue lightbulbs, but they aren’t the cheapest things in the world. You can change the colour of the bulbs, set schedules for when they turn on and even wake you up gently in the morning. They’re also Alexa compatible – so you don’t actually have to leave the bed if you want to turn on or off the light. Win.

If you’re fed up of smartwatches dying on you, the Oura Ring 3 might be your new favourite companion. A smart ring that can do almost everything a smartwatch can do (except tell the time), it’s one of my favourite wearables and is currently discounted to its lowest-ever price.

Gamers, if you’re looking for Black Friday discounts, you won’t find any at Steam. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any discounts, however.

Steam runs what it calls an “autumn sale”, during which it slashes the price on thousands of games. The event starts on 21 November this year and ends just before Black Friday, on 28 November. Unlike other fashion brands (think Asos and Mango), Zara usually waits until the eve of Black Friday to kick off its Black Friday sale. If you’re hunting for deals in the run-up, make sure the brand’s special prices section is on your radar. The brand sells clothing at reduced prices in this section year-round.
