Calling all bargain hunters – Amazon’s October Prime Day is just a few days away now, but if you’re raring to go, you’ll be happy to hear the ecommerce giant is kicking things off early, with some stellar savings to be found on its own-brand gadgets.

The Prime Big Deal Days sale – as it is officially called – starts on Tuesday 8 October, and lasts for 48 hours, but Amazon’s already taken chunks out of the price of its Fire TV Sticks, Echo smart speakers, Kindle tablets and even its Ring video doorbells.

The retailer is also expected to slash prices on everything from TVs and laptops to beauty and home appliances, including vacuum cleanersheated clothes airers and dehumidifiers, as well as tech from Apple, home essentials and electric toothbrushes from Oral-B.

To help you shop smart this Prime Day, the IndyBest team will be here live throughout the sale, sniffing out the latest and best early deals and providing top tips. Constantly updated, we’re busy hunting down the discounts. But remember, you need to be a Prime subscriber if you want to take part.

Amazon’s new Fire 8 tablet already has a discount

Amazon just launched an all-new 8in Fire tablet earlier this week, and it’s already on sale with a 50 per cent discount. A great option if you can’t afford to splurge on an iPad (or are still waiting for Apple to release a new iPad mini).

Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet: Was £99.99, now £49.99, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon )

The new and upgraded Fire HD 8 tablet features a vibrant 8in HD display and a lightweight, portable design, as well as a faster and more powerful processor. There’s also 50 per cent more RAM, so it’ll be quicker to load up all your streaming services. The rear camera has also been upgraded to 5MP.

This Oral-B electric toothbrush has 60% off

Oral-B Pro 3 electric toothbrush: Was £100, now £40, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon)

The Pro 3 is less powerful and a little noisier than the premium iO range but will clean your teeth just as competently, while leaving your bank balance looking a little healthier, too. Featuring different speed settings and a whitening mode, the Oral-B Pro 3 left our tech writer Steve’s teeth with that “‘just been to the dentist’ feeling”. It was discounted to £40 in last year’s Big Deal Days sale, and is available today at the same price.

Steve’s rounding up more of the best early Prime Day electric toothbrush deals in his article below:

Olaplex’s hair perfector has 36% off

The beauty journalists at The Independent rave about Olaplex’s hair perfector, and it’s currently on sale ahead of Amazon Prime Day.

Olaplex no 3 hair perfector: Was £28, now £17.95, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon/The Independent)

One of the best hair products in the biz, Olaplex’s No.3 hair perfector is the ultimate revitaliser for your locks and will transform them from lacklustre to luscious. Testing the pre-shampoo mask in IndyBest editor Eva’s guide to the best Olaplex hair products, she commented that not only does No.3 (along with No.0) contain the highest level of the patented bond-builder that’s signature to the brand, it “worked wonders on split ends” and made her hair visibly shinier. With 36 per cent off, now’s your time to pick up a bottle for less.

This IndyBest-approved heated airer is nearly 30% off

Looking to dry your clothes quick and efficiently now that the sun has disappeared? Ahead of Prime Day, Black and Decker has slashed the price of its heated airer, and I’m putting it into my basket as we speak.

Black+Decker three-tier heated airer: Was £155, now £109.99, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon)

Securing a spot in Zoe’s round-up of the best heated clothes airers,Black+Decker’s model boasts a three-tiered design that can handle a full washing machine load of clothes. “The rails are spaced out more than on other rail-based airer models, which makes arranging clothes over it fast and simple,” she said in her review, noting that it’s quick to heat up and lightweight to manoeuvre around your home. Now, you can save nearly 30 per cent on the price.

One of the best LG TVs is now on sale

Looking to splash out on one of the best tellies of 2024? You won’t need to upgrade this one for a very long time. It’s currently dropped to its lowest-ever price ahead of Prime Day.

LG C4: Was £2,699, now £1,849, Amazon.co.uk

(LG)

The LG C4 launched in 2024 and is the latest in this series of excellent OLED televisions. Brilliant colour, contrast and highlights paired with a 120Hz refresh rate and Nvidia G-sync support make the C4 the best TV for movie fans and gamers alike. It’s a bargain at £1,849. And if you want a smaller telly, the 42in model costs just £872. “It features pin-sharp picture and excellent brightness levels that look realistic and persuasive,” our tech critic said in his review. “Overall, the picture quality is outstanding. It’s also lightweight for a screen this size: 16.6kg without the stand. That’s handy when you’re setting it up.”

The all-new Amazon Echo Spot is almost half price

If you’re looking to pick up a new Amazon Echo for the bedroom, the Echo Spot was just released a few months ago, and it’s one of the cleverest little smart alarm clocks I’ve tested.

Amazon Echo Spot smart alarm clock: Was £79.99, now £44.99, Amazon.co.uk

(Amazon )

With a £35 discount, the all-new Amazon Echo Spot is a steal at this price. It’s like a more advanced Echo Dot. “The Echo Spot straddles the line between an Echo Dot and an Echo Show. Featuring a bright, animated display, it makes it really easy to see things like the weather, time and songs at a glance,” I said in my review. “Customisable and quick to answer questions, it’s a nifty little alarm clock that looks smart and has decent sound quality.”
