She has yet to secure a record deal, but X Factor contestant Fleur East has already got herself a number one single.

The 26-year-old’s version of “Uptown Funk” has topped the UK iTunes download chart after she performed the song on Saturday night’s live show.

Her version of the Mark Ronson song featuring Bruno Mars, which is yet to be physically released in the UK, is currently beating Take That’s “These Days” and “Thinking Out Loud” by Taylor Swift on the iTunes real-time download sales chart.

Simon Cowell said the performance was one of the top three in the show’s 10-year history.

But not everyone appeared to be happy with Fleur’s choice of song. Lily Allen tweeted that the decision to perform an unreleased single was “an example of music industry corruption”, but added that Fleur “did it justice”.

The song was released as a digital-only single on 10 November and is taken from Mark Ronson’s upcoming album Uptown Special, which won’t be released until 2015.

The album will be released by Columbia UK, which is part of Sony Music along with Simon Cowell’s label Syco.

Fleur East will compete against Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini in next week’s X Factor final after 17-year-old Lauren Platt was sent home on Sunday night.
