From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Some This Morning viewers have called for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford to be given their own talk show.

The pair used to host the Friday edition of the daily ITV chat show, but were replaced at the end of 2020 by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

However, Holmes and Langsford remain affiliated with the show, and currently present during the school holidays.

The couple returned to the show for the first time this year on Monday (15 February), with viewers reacting positively to their appearance.

Before Wednesday’s (17 February) episode aired, Holmes tweeted: “Halfway through This Morning Half Term. Hope u r enjoying it. @RuthieeL and I would like to thank you for such a warm welcome back.”

Many viewers expressed their desire to see Holmes and Langsford come back to screens on a full-time basis, potentially with a new talk show of their own making.

“Thank God you’re back,” wrote one fan. “No disrespect to anyone else, but I personally love having you pair on. It’s was devastating when they took you off on a Friday, as if things weren’t bad enough, then they take away you beautiful pair away from us! Get your own show.”

“So lovely to have you both back,” wrote another. “It’s such a shame it is only for a week.”

“Love having you both back! Too long to wait for Easter hols please please Eamonn and Ruth get your own daytime show going,” wrote someone else, while another viewer wrote: “Great having you both back I wish you had your own program.”

“Great to see you back,” echoed another fan. “You and Ruth should have your own show.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
