Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The latest celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing has been revealed.

After a dance-off with Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing, Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo left the BBC series.

Amfo and her professional dance partner Aljaž Škorjanec were named as the couple who had the lowest number of combined judges' scores and viewers' votes alongside Laing and Karen Hauer.

After performing again, judge Craig Revel Horwood voted to save Amfo.

However, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas opted to save Laing.

When asked about her time on the show, Amfo told the show’s co-host Tess Daly: “I’ve had the best time ever, the best time ever and got a new friend for life. I’ve loved it, its one of the best things I’ve ever ever done, its been a dream come true.”

Amfo’s departure found its way online ahead of the results show’s broadcast, with one person saying they would “riot” if the spoiler turned out to be true.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday 5 December at 7.25pm
