At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The TV personality took exception to the rapper and fashion designer’s Twitter post celebrating his wife’s financial success after she became a billionaire for the first time.
Speaking on US chat show The Talk, Osbourne called West “tone deaf” considering many people have lost their jobs and been hurt financially due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“It isn’t the right time to show off your wealth but, hey, some people, that is what they do,” she said.
“I have never been keen on that anyway, whether there is a pandemic or not,” Osbourne continued. “I never believe in that. For me, I cringe when people do it.”
In West’s original post, he wrote: ”I am so proud of my beautiful wife Kim Kardashian West for officially becoming a billionaire.”
He added: “You’ve weathered the craziest storms and now God is shining on you and our family.”
West has announced he will run for president in 2020, a move which has generated widespread confusion on social media.
“We must now realise the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” West told his followers. “I am running for president of the United States.”
It remains unclear whether West has completed the official paperwork necessary to make such a bid, which many people are dismissing on social media as a “PR stunt”.
Kardashian married West in 2014, and they have four children together: daughter North, 7, son Saint, 4, daughter Chicago, 2, and one-year-old son, Psalm.
Kardashian’s family, including mother Kris and sister Khloe, are at the centre of long-running series Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which documents their life as celebrities.
She is currently training to become a lawyer. Her father, Robert Kardashian, gained national recognition as OJ Simpson’s friend and defence attorney during his 1995 murder trial.
