From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Situated in the town of Mono, Ontario, the Hockley Motel features prominently in the series.
Schitt’s Creek focuses on the affluent Rose family, who are forced to relocate to the titular town after losing their money.
The series was written by Dan Levy and his father, Eugene Levy, both of whom also star in it alongside Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy.
Earlier this year, the real-life mansion that appears in the show as the property from which the Roses are first evicted was also placed on the market for a price of around C$15m (£8.6m).

In its real estate listing, the Hockley Motel proudly advertises its association with the series. The location was also used in an episode of the Netflix sci-fi series The Umbrella Academy.
However, the motel is missing the distinctive “Rosebud Motel” sign, which was added for use in Schitt’s Creek.
The property includes 10 rooms, and sits on 6.7 acres of land, roughly an hour and a half’s drive from the city of Toronto.
Schitt’s Creek can be watched in the UK on Netflix.
