Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Toronto mansion that appears in Schitt’s Creek has been listed for sale for almost C$15m (£8.6m).

In the Canadian sitcom, the once-wealthy Rose family are evicted from the property – resplendent with a marble staircase and giant chandeliers – in the first-ever episode. The series then follows their attempts to build a new life in the town of Schitt’s Creek.

The Toronto mansion, located on Fifeshire road in the St Andrews-Windfields neighbourhood, is up for sale for C$14,980,000 – a reduction on its 2018 price of nearly C$22m.

It has 12 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, Sistine Chapel-inspired mural paintings, a carved limestone exterior, a wine cellar, a cinema, a golf simulator, a banquet hall and two swimming pools.

It also has parking spaces for no less than 14 cars.

Schitt’s Creek was created by and stars Eugene Levy and his son, Dan, along with Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy.

Its final season picked nine Emmys at last year’s award ceremony, with all four of the lead actors being recognised in the comedy series category.
