From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Dancing on Ice has returned to screens for its 13th season tonight (17 January).

The ITV competition is back with a line-up of 12 new celebrities partnering up with professional skaters in an effort to be crowned this year’s winners.

Among the new stars to enter the series is Rebekah Vardy. Joining Vardy as her partner is professional ice skater Andy Buchanan, who has previously competed twice on the show.

Buchanan first starred on the programme opposite TV presenter Anthea Turner in season eight, and then with Coronation Street actor Zaraah Abrahams in season nine.

Vardy has become a familiar face as both a television presenter and model.

In 2017, the 38-year-old appeared on the 17th season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, however, she was voted out of the jungle early on in the series.

Her other TV credits include starring as a guest panelist and presenter on Loose Women. She has also appeared on Good Morning Britain, This Morning, and Jeremy Vine.

Vardy is also married to professional footballer Jamie Vardy, who is currently playing in the Premier League as a striker for Leicester City.

The couple met in 2014 when Vardy was working as a nightclub promoter and married two years later. Together, they have three children. Last year, the pair starred in two episodes of Celebrity Gogglebox.

In October 2019, Coleen Rooney – who is married to professional footballer Wayne Rooney – accused Vardy of leaking stories about her to the press over the course of five months.

In July, Vardy filed for defamation claiming that she had been falsely accused. The highly publicised feud – dubbed “Wagatha Christie” – is still ongoing.

Both Vardy and Rooney have agreed to a stay of proceedings until February, suggesting that they will attempt to resolve the issue privately without the need for a full trial.

Vardy and her husband currently live in Lincolnshire with their family.
