Piers Morgan tells stupid and racist people to stop watching Good Morning Britain

Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Piers Morgan has banned the “stupid and racist” people who are against the Black Lives Matter protests from watching his breakfast show Good Morning Britain.

The 55-year-old recently spoke out in support of demonstrators who tore down the statue of slaver Edward Colston in Bristol.

Now he is asking those who are still opposed to the Black Lives Matter movement and its action against police brutality and systemic racism to turn off the TV.

Taking inspiration from Yorkshire Tea, the divisive journalist explained how the company banned a Twitter user after they wrote: “I’m dead chuffed that Yorkshire Tea hasn’t supported BLM.”

“Yesterday we had some troll popping up saying how happy they were how Yorkshire Tea hadn’t endorsed Black Lives Matter,” Morgan explained. “So Yorkshire Tea banned that person, boom, gone, please do not buy our tea again.”

He added: “They were joined by PG Tips in solidarity and PG Tips piled in and offered their support.”

Laughing at the situation, the presenter carried on: “The thing about racists is they’re often so stupid, she will think she is banned. She’ll actually think she is banned that’s the thing about racists, they’re so thick.

“I asked on Twitter can all stupid people please stop following me, and they did.

“Some bloke yesterday giving me some, a racist yesterday, and I said, ‘you’re banned from ever watching this again, you, your family banned. That’s it.’ A lifetime ban for being racist or stupid, and we can’t have stupid people watching our programme, so if you are stupid or if you are racist don’t watch it.”

The presenter smiled: “Don’t watch it with the smart non-racist viewers, those are the ones we want watching.

“I like the idea of this, they can’t do anything that they would otherwise enjoy like a tea or their breakfast show, apart from sitting in their festering little dungeon being racists.

“Well you can do without your Good Morning Britain, your morning tea, your PG Tips."
