Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

For those unable to take a trip to Liverpool's own Peaky Blinders-themed pub, here's something a little closer to home.

A new line of spirits inspired by the hit BBC drama has hit shelves (plus Amazon and their official website if you're not up for a trek to the shops), thanks to Sadler's, a Black Country brewery originally founded in 1900. The company supplied twelve tied public houses at the time, reportedly frequented by the real Peaky Blinders gang themselves.

The craft spirits draw from flavours popular during the 1920s, the gang's heyday, when new flavours were introduced thanks to the area's immigrant communities, with new ingredients, aromas, and distilling methods.

Three new beverages are available in the range: the Peaky Blinder Whiskey nods to the gang's favourite spirit with a bold yet smooth, triple-distilled drink. It's a blend of grain and single malt Irish whiskey finished in a sherry cask, with an aroma of malts and cracked nuts, delivering a sweet taste and smooth intense flavour.

The Peaky Blinder Spiced Dry Gin nods to the cocktail culture of the '20s, made from a selection of nine exotic botanicals. It's a surprising, unusual flavour for those out to try something a little different, peppery with notes of ginger. The Peaky Blinder Black Spiced Rum takes the traditional and offers a modern spin, with essences of orange, nutmeg, vanilla, and raisin.

Peaky Blinders airs Wednesday nights at 9pm on BBC Two.
