Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

After the heartbreaking news that it is in fact not coming home, how better to cheer yourself up than a healthy dose of Love Island.

Pushed back to 10pm due to extra time in the England vs Croatia game, there was a lot that needed sorting in tonight's episode.

Tension filled the villa after new boy Idris told Laura the truth about Georgia and Jack's romantic moment.

Thankfully after some very awkward chats by the pool, it seems everyone has decided to let it go (Laura is fine. She's definitely fine everyone, OKAY?!).

New contestant Alexandra joined the line-up, taking Dr Alex and New Jack for some surprisingly successful dates, much to the annoyance of Laura (she is DEFINITELY STILL FINE).

But it was Megan and Wes that would end up being the star of tonight's show. The loved-up pair cemented their tumultuous relationship by branding each other boyfriend and girlfriend.

Oh yes, and Samira is still really sad about Frankie.

Follow our take on the villa drama as it happened.

Love Island continues weekdays and Sundays at 9pm on ITV2.

Another day, another hour of sun-filled drama to devour. It may well be coming home, but nothing quite inspires a bizarre sense of patriotism like Love Island.

Important announcement! Tonight's Love Island will start at 9.30pm because of the England vs Croatia game.

Did our contestants sacrifice the chance to watch the World Cup in favour of a lengthy stay in the sun-soaked villa and a potential new partner?

In case you missed it, two new boys entered the villa last night. One was 26-year-old Kieran Nicholls, the other boxer Idris Virgo, 25.

Swaggering in screeching "wazzuppp!", the initial reaction from other contestants was tepid at best.

Despite the meagre reaction to their arrival, new boys Kieran and Idris wasted no time in getting to the girls.

Tonight will see yet another new contestant enter the villa. This time, it's Alexandra. Here's a sneak peak of what's to come:

Even if you're not interested in football and you just want to know how Jack will react to Idris dobbing him in, you might need to know what's going on with the match.

Currently it is 1-0 to England. If it stays that way it won't go to penalties, meaning you can expect your Love Island to start at the planned 9.30pm. If Croatia manage to get one in (which given the performance of England in the second half so far, it could happen) then it is highly likely ITV2 will push tonight's show back to 10pm.

I only have myself to blame, I tempted fate.

It is 1-1 with less than 10 minutes left. If it stays this way and goes into extra time, Love Island will probably get pushed back to 10pm.

As expected, tonight's episode has been pushed back to 10pm.

Lucy Anna Gray11 July 2018 20:58

After a heartbreaking defeat, it's time to forget about football for an hour. Love Island will start in 15 minutes.
