From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.Love Island came back for a drama-filled instalment on Thursday as the arrival of newcomer Arabella Chi shook things up in the Spanish villa.
Somewhat unusually – and rather dramatically – Arabella made her entrance while the other islanders were still sleeping, leaving it to a stunned Curtis to find her sunning herself as he stepped out for his morning coffee.
Anton was immediately quite taken with his new house mate, as was Danny – except that while Anton is single, Danny is paired up with Yewande, meaning he's not exactly supposed to openly fancy anyone else.
What does Arabella's arrival mean for Danny and Yewande?
This was the main emotional arc of this episode: Danny viewed Arabella's arrival as an opportunity to shake things up with Yewande, who he felt hadn't been forthcoming enough vis-à-vis of her feelings for him. Arabella picked Danny to go on a date with her, Danny and Yewande had a chilly exchange about the whole thing, and for all intents and purposes, it seemed as though Yewande and Danny were headed to Splitsville – except! Except Yewande decided to tell Danny how much she actually likes him, leaving the islander beaming with joy. The two sealed their reconciliation with a few steamy kisses, but a teaser for next week's episodes suggests Danny could have second thoughts.
Will Anton and Arabella hit it off for good?
Anton has made no secret of the fact that he's smitten with Arabella. Arabella, who made Anton her second pick for a date, seems to like him just fine. She has indicated that she intends to get to know both Anton and Danny better, regardless of Danny's reconciliation with Yewande. All this to say: Anton hasn't won Arabella over just yet, and it remains to be seen who the new islander will end up with.
Is Maura the villa's new puppet master?
Maura gave, according to Molly-Mae's assessment, a "savage" bit of advice when she urged Danny to reassess the situation with Yewande and "nip [things] in the bud". Danny's response to Maura's guidance was this sentence, which is certain to go straight into the Love Island book of poetry: "Don't come to Love Island if you don't want to be loved."
Lucie seems to be bouncing back
Lucie had previously seemed heartbroken following the departure of Joe, whom she had been coupled up with. This episode, though, made no mention of Joe, suggesting we're moving away from this state of affairs. It will be interesting to see what happens to Lucie in the near future.

Danny tells Arabella he and Yewande are "struggling a little bit" and he feels he's putting most of the effort in.
Danny thoroughly enjoyed his date with Arabella. Michael urges Yewande to tell Danny how she wants things to go between them.
Arabella's second choice for a date is Anton, who is absolutely over the moon.
Anton shares his "nightmare" with Arabella, telling her he had just coupled up with Elma when she was eliminated from the show.
Ooooh it's time for Danny to debrief his date with the other islanders, including Yewande!
Danny excitedly tells the boys he and Arabella have a lot in common and that he needs to figure out whether he and Yewande are compatible.
Other islanders keep asking Yewande whether she's disappointed, but she keeps telling them she's fine and was expecting this turn of events.
Anton, meanwhile, tells Arabella he's a "mama's boy", by which he means his mother shaves his bum every once in a while.
