Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Amber and Greg have won Love Island 2019 in a shock final after favourites Tommy and Molly-Mae came in second.

The winning couple was voted for by the public, with runners-up Maura and Curtis, and Ovie and India coming 4th and 3rd, respectively.

In the live final, the couples attended a “ball” where they were able to dress up and read declarations of love to one another, with many viewers praising Greg and Ovie’s speeches for being particularly moving.

As presenter Caroline Flack announced the winning couple, Amber was shown with a shocked look on her face. As per tradition, one half of the couple was asked to choose whether to take the money for themselves or split it with their partner -- Greg chose to split the £50,000 winnings with Amber.

Starting with some very slow-mo shots of the couples enjoying their final moments together. You can imagine the directors screaming at them: LOOK MORE SEXY. KISS BETTER.

That zebra Caroline Flack is wearing died in vain.

Caroline: "Let's see how they spent their last morning in the villa."

Alisha: "CHATTING SHITE PROBABLY."

OK so the final four couples are getting a summer ball. Curtis is teaching everyone how to dance.

What is Tommy doing. Surely it's illegal.

Greg is taking to this like a fish to polluted water.

Maura has got fanny flutters again. Think there's cream for that.

It's time to go shopping. For the girls, because only girls like shopping. Obvs.

Right well I'm not getting much feedback for the blog but apparently people are very impressed with my Spanish feast. No you cannot all come over for dinner.

Greg dancing has become a gif already and a lot of people enjoyed his "Curtis can move well for a big fella" quip.
