From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Wednesday night's episode continued the fallout from Josh's pivot from Georgia to Kaz, Georgia calming down a little and making peace with the new girl, after initially repeatedly and disingenuously calling her "Kez".
Adam semi-dumped Darylle meanwhile, admitting that he'd been distance since returning to the villa as he'd started pining for evicted contestant Zara.
The third narrative strand belonged to Wes, who resolved to graft on New Ellie and try and win back Megan (with help from Alex aka "Doctor Decoy"), much to new boy Alex's annoyance.

On Tuesday night's episode: After Monday's truly explosive episode, tonight's instalment tied up some very loose ends. ITV2 delayed the episode for England v Colombia first by 30 minutes, then upped it to an hour, infuriating fans across social media.
But the show must go on, and go on it did. After a rocky week everybody's favourites Jack and Dani declared their undying love for each other, but only after a painfully awkward date between Dani and 'the-ex', Ellie, and a blazing row on the decking.
Georgia and Josh didn't have quite such a pleasant time, making it crystal clear they were well and truly done. Their tense confrontation led to a rather dour end to the episode, with Georgia left in floods of tears.
After watching England in a World Cup penalty shoot out, tension in the nation was already running high, and this episode only added to it. With tears, shouting and lots of Bucks Fizz, here's everything that went on in the villa.
Live blog (please allow a moment for it to load):
Love Island will air tonight at 9.30pm on ITV2
Somehow I don't think anyone in the villa will be getting a text about this...
Alex says "what's gwanning?" like he's asking someone to explain a forgotten medieval embroidery technique
Complaining to Ofcom about the frankly disturbing level of awkwardness in that Alex/Grace conversation
There are two types of Love Island challenge, the 'split up couples through sneaky questioning' challenge and the gross-out challenge. Sadly tonight it's the latter, offering unsolicited opportunities to watch Alex regurgitate food like a bird
Get you a guy who will search every last atom of his brain to try and fill the awkward silence like Alex does with Grace
Georgia makes peace with Kaz, who genuinely seems like a very nice, level-headed human being
Trying to provide Wes with a diversion so he can 'graft' Megan, Alex christens himself "Doctor Decoy", though I prefer the original "Doctor Desolation"
