Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Love Island is in for some major trouble - as the new boys and girls started to dig their claws into our couples.

Megan currently has her pick of the litter when it comes to the new boys, though it seems she might be settling on Alex 2.0. News that will certainly be coming to Wes' surprise.

What's genuinely devastating to see, however, is how Samira's been left feeling utterly unwanted during her time on Love Island, as she ended up in floods of tears as none of the new boys seemed to express much interest in her.

One couple we thankfully don't have to worry about (more specifically, Danny Dyer doesn't have to worry about) is Jack and Dani.

Though both were separately consumed with anxiety that someone might be cracking on with their partner, they've remained faithful, even with the arrival of Jack's ex, Ellie 2.0. And the UK's heart melted as we watched them both spend the night outside rather than in someone else's bed.

Elsewhere, our contestants also pushed themselves to the limits of their own bodily hygiene, as they spat alcoholic drinks into each other's mouths in an attempt to complete the episode's challenge.

Previously: the newbies arrived and it all turned a little bit Attack of the Clones. Josh and Georgia are on the precipice. Tonight: everyone is getting stressed out because being physically apart from each other basically constitutes cheating.

Why are Dr. Alex and Wes actively trying to unleash the snake side of Ellie 2.0? Are they just trying to take down the favourites? It's straight Machiavellian,I tell you! Machiavellian!

Look at these sexy couples spitting alcohol into each others mouths like a relay race of birds vomiting into their children's mouths.

Dr. Alex saying the phrase "watching it go between her lovely breasts" is such peak country club member villain from an '80s rom-com.

Megan. MEGAN. No one here likes anyone as a person. Why do you not understand this yet.
