From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Ant McPartlin made an unexpected joke about his sobriety on an episode of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here’s after show.

The TV presenter appeared on Extra Camp with Declan Donnelly on Thursday night (21 November), where the pair discussed the arrival of new contestants Andrew Whyment and Cliff Parisi.

Co-host Emily Atack, who came second on last year’s series, said she was a fan of Whyment in particular, saying: “You can have a pint with him at the pub.”

In a light-hearted manner, McPartlin – referencing his time in rehab – quickly replied: “Or a coke.”

Donnelly laughed and steered the conversation back to Whyment.

McPartlin stepped down from his television commitments in March 2018 following his arrest for suspected drink driving.

The presenter was involved in a collision with two other cars while driving in Richmond, west London. He was arrested after failing a breathalyser test.

Holly Willoughby stood in for McPartlin on last year’s series of I’m a Celebrity, which was won by Harry Redknapp.

The 2019 contestants include Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright and Nadine Coyle. Find a full list of contestants here.
