From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Earlier this week, the 2019 line-up of ITV's successful reality series was unveiled, featuring American television personality Caitlyn Jenner, Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway, Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle and retired footballer Ian Wright.
Despite being on the list of rumours ahead of the announcement, Coronation Street star Andrew Whyment – who plays Kirk Sutherland – wasn't named. But, The Sun is now reporting he will enter the jungle a few days after the show starts, much in the same way that Noel Edmonds did last year.
The show's new cast also includes retired rugby player James Haskell, ex-EastEnders actor Jacqueline Jossa, who played Lauren Branning until 2018, and comedian Andrew Maxwell, best known for providing voiceover for the MTV reality show Ex on the Beach.
DJs Adele Roberts (Radio 1) and Roman Kemp (Capital FM) complete the line-up, alongside Myles Stephenson, who won The X Factor in 2017 with his band Rak-Su.

It is currently unknown who the second latecomer will be, although rumours have named broadcaster Richard Madeley, football pundit Chris Kamara, as well as Love Island stars Eyal Booker and Georgia Steel as potential contestants. See the full list of potential celebrities here.
The highest-paid celebrity is believed to be Jenner, who will earn a reported £500,000 for her appearance.
This year’s series will see the return of Ant McPartlin alongside Declan Donnelly after he took a hiatus from presenting.
Last year, Donnelly was joined by Holly Willoughby for a series that was won by former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp.
I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! will return to ITV on 17 November.
