From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! is back for a brand new series, with a new bunch of contestants ready to take on the perils of the Australian jungle.

The ITV show is just a few days into its 19th series, and the stars have already become acquainted with crickets, cockroaches and rats – but it’s worth remembering they’ve been paid good money to participate.

So, how much is each celebrity earning for their appearance in the reality series?

Heading up the pack is American television personality Caitlyn Jenner, who is making a reported £500,000 – one of the highest figures a contestant has ever been paid (Noel Edmonds matched this last year).

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, who host the series, poked fun at these reports during the launch show, saying: “Most people come into the jungle to lose a few pounds, but [Caitlyn’s] going to be gaining 500,000 of them according to the papers.”

Following close behind Jenner is footballer Ian Wright, who is said to have been paid £400,000, and Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle with £250,000.

Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway and ex-EastEnders star Jacqueline Jossa are reportedly earning £75,000 each, with DJ Adele Roberts and rugby pro James Haskell taking home £50,000.

Bottom of the pack are Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp (£40,000) and Rak-Su singer Myles Stephenson (£25,000).

It’s unknown what comedian Andrew Maxwell has earned from his appearance.

Reports claim that Coronation Street star Andrew Whyment – who plays Kirk Sutherland in the ITV soap – will be entering the jungle later this week, and will earn £100,000 for doing so.

According to Gemma Collins, who quit the show days into her appearance in 2014, participating celebrities are said to take home their paycheck even if they decide to drop out.

I’m a Celebrity continues nightly at 9pm on ITV.
