Your support makes all the difference.Sir David Attenborough attended the National Television Awards last night, himself and the team behind Blue Planet II picking up this year’s Impact Award.
Utilising the moment, Attenborough gave a brilliant speech, calling on everyone watching at home to “protect this beautiful world”.
“These are the people who should be holding this,” the iconic broadcaster said, accepting the NTA. “But I know they would all join me in saying all we were trying to do was raise an issue that is of great importance to, not only this country, but worldwide, what we're doing to our planet.”
He continued: ”If our television programmes have helped stirred the consciences of people around the world – and that we are going to do something to protect this beautiful world – then all of us will be very pleased.”
The team received a standing ovation following the speech. Other winners on the night included Ant & Dec who took home best presenter for the 17th consecutive year. See the full list of winners here.
