Your support makes all the difference.Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has responded to the news that Regé-Jean Page has left the show.
The 34-year-old actor, who plays Penelope Featherington in Netflix’s hit period series, tweeted about the future of the series shortly after Page’s departure was announced.
Coughlan reassured disappointed fans who threatened to boycott the series if Page’s character – Simon, the Duke of Hastings – didn’t show up in some form.
“Season one was just the tip of the Bridgerton iceberg, just you wait to see what we have in store... “ she wrote, adding: “And you can trust me, I would know after all.”
The next season of the show will focus on Lord Anthony Bridgerton, who is played by Jonathan Bailey. It will be an adaptation of Julia Quinn’s novel The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Announcing Page’s departure, the official Twitter page for Bridgerton wrote: “Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
