From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Rapper Bhad Bhabie has claimed to have broken OnlyFans’s record after allegedly making more than $1m (£723,000) in her first six hours on the website.

On Thursday (1 April), the viral-star-turned-rapper – real name Danielle Bregoli – announced that she was signing up for the subscription-based website.

For $23.99 (£17.35) a month, fans were offered access to private photos and videos from the rapper as well as opportunities to “direct message” Bregoli, who turned 18 in March.

On Thursday night, Bregoli shared a photo of a computer screen seemingly showing her takings from the website so far. They totalled $1,030,703.43 (£745,353.19), including $267,675 (£193,569) from messages and more than $5,500 (£3900) in tips.

“Not bad for 6 hours,” the rapper wrote. “We broke the f*** out of that onlyfans record.”

The Independent has contacted OnlyFans for comment.

While anyone can make content for the subscription platform, the website is popular among sex workers.

However, some celebrities do have pages on OnlyFans, with actor Bella Thorne making headlines last year after she was accused of lying about sharing nude content in order to gain more subscribers.

In her first week on the platform, Thorne reportedly made $2m (£1.52m). The former Disney star later apologised to sex workers on OnlyFans for “hurting” them.
