Organisers first broke the news that the musician would not be attending on the morning of Sunday, the day of his performance, citing "travel issues".
However, it has now been clarified on Wireless' official Twitter account that the cancellation was "due to a scheduling conflict related to filming of the The Four". adding: "Although we have known for a few months and tried to make it work, it wasn’t possible."
"We take responsibility for not telling fans sooner and want all Khaled’s fans in UK to know he truly looks forward to coming to UK to perform soon," the statement added.
Fans had previously become irritated with the musician, after pointing out that he had posted – a mere 14 hours before – a picture of himself relaxing in the pool with the caption: “Still on vacation!!!!!!!!”
Drake stepped in to fill the slot - making a surprise appearance at the festival - sending fans wild as he appeared on stage in front of the OVO logo with a Union Jack wing to perform tracks include “I’m Upset” and “Nice For What”. He closed the festival with "God's Plan".
