At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The comedian, who is currently recovering after a car crash in Malibu, has come under fire again for his attitude towards LGBT+ people after appearing in an episode of HBO's The Shop: Uninterrupted, during which Lil Nas X was asked about coming out.
He did so amid the success of his hit "Old Town Road", which broke the record for the longest run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
"And with all that early success, you felt it was important to make an announcement recently?" asked marketing executive and moderator Paul Rivera.
Before Lil Nas X had a chance to respond, Hart interrupted: "He said he was gay, so what?"
Lil Nas X, 20, then tried to explain that he grew up being encouraged to "hate that s**t", referring to homosexuality, when Hart butted in again: "Hate what? Why?"
"Come on now, if you really from the hood, you know," Lil Nas X responded.
He said if he had come out publicly at "any other time" it would be "for attention, in my eyes". But since the rapper is "at the top", it's "for real... it's showing, like, it doesn't really matter," he said.
Since the clip was shared online, Hart has been condemned for his attitude towards Lil Nas X.
The Daily Beast's Goldie Taylor wrote: "Kevin Hart knows exactly what the 'so what' is here and why a young black boy would closet his sexuality until he believed it was safe. Why not simply listen, give Lil Nas X the space and deference to tell his own story..."
Vox's Jenee Desmond-Harris said: "Kevin Hart's rage and bitterness about anything to do with gay people is so jarring. Lil Nas X seems so stable and healthy and Kevin seems so... not okay."
Hart stepped down from hosting the 2019 Oscars in December last year after a number of homophobic tweets he had posted resurfaced, including one where he said he would beat his son if he found him playing with a doll's house and say "stop, that's gay".
In his 2010 comedy special Seriously Funny, he also claimed having a gay son was his "biggest fear".
