From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Liam Gallagher pulls no punches and takes no prisoners. The former Oasis frontman’s Twitter is a veritable smorgasbord of cryptic insults, acerbic reflections on everyday life, and profanity-laden rants directed at his brother Noel and anything which gets under his skin.
The musician who is now a solo artist has been characteristically forthright about James Corden. Gallagher has announced there is no chance he will be appearing on Corden’s immensely popular Carpool Karaoke.
The segment on The Late Late Show sees Corden invite famous musicians to sing along to their songs while he drives around and has featured everyone from Michelle Obama to Stevie Wonder and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
“No, thank you very much,” Gallagher told GQ in an interview. “No f*****g chance mate. With that fat bloke from Kevin and Perry?”
At this point, his partner Debbie Gwyther is said to have interjected to say: “It’s called Gavin and Stacey and you’ve never watched it,” before Gallagher concluded: “I don’t need to watch it to know I won’t like it. James Corden is a kn*bhead.”
Corden was one of the writers of Gavin & Stacey and played the role of Neil “Smithy” Smith in the sitcom.
Gallagher also used the interview to argue he was more of a rockstar cliché than his brother Noel, saying: “My thing was the whole cliché: the sex, the drugs, the rock’n’roll.”
“I lived it, mate. I was it. And that’s why Oasis worked,” he continued. “We couldn’t have both been boring f***s and neither could we have both been headcases like me. And I know how much it annoyed him. He did the graft while I went out and undid the graft. But Oasis wouldn’t have worked with two Liams or two Noels.”
Gallagher, who is currently touring the world as a solo artist, made headlines last week for storming off stage at Chicago music festival Lollapalooza just three songs into his set. His evidently puzzled band kept on playing until the song wound to a close and then also departed the stage.
He again grabbed attention after he crashed a jam session at an Irish pub in Montreal over the weekend.
