From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The never ending feud between Katy Perry and Taylor Swift seems to be coming to an end after Perry tweeted how she would collaborate with the 1989 singer if she apologises.

One social media user asked Perry “will you collaborate with Taylor Swift?” to which she replied “If she says sorry, sure!”

What Swift has to apologise for is unclear, but rumours have been circulating since the song’s release that “Bad Blood” is directed towards Perry (something Swift has denied on various occasions yet ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris recently alluded to being true).

Whether Perry really would work with Swift remains to be seen; all we have to go on is a Tweet favourited over 20,000 times.

Of course, Perry’s official account may have been hacked, or perhaps this is some elaborate joke, but, for now, fans are very excited the two may be on speaking terms.

Meanwhile, Swift recently made headlines after breaking up with Tom Hiddleston; their relationship was widely reported on in the press following pictures of the two kissing were featured on The Sun’s front page.

Perry has been featured in the press in the last few weeks after it emerged a man was ‘catfished’ into believing he was married to the singer for six years. She later responded to the incident, saying her heart goes out to the man and she “felt bad for him”.
