From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Checking the BBC's Webcam for the most recent views of the Pyramid Stage you can see people marking out what appears to be a cartoon bear face on the grass.
The GlastoTwisto Twitter account suggested it looked like Mickey Mouse, but Radiohead fans have since pointed out that it could be the 'Modified Bear' logo from their promotional campaign for Kid A.
Radiohead are one of the most hotly-tipped bands to headline next year's festival, following the release of their new album A Moon Shaped Pool earlier in 2016, and following tour.
Responding to rumours that they could appear on the Pyramid Stage again, guitarist Ed O'Brien told BBC 6 Music: "I would love to. I go to Glastonbury every year, it's my carnival.
"To be asked to play at Glastonbury again would be magic. I also think Glastonbury is like our spiritual home. It is the mother of all festivals... there's nothing like that one... it would be great to play there."
Other acts rumoured as possible headliners include Lady Gaga, Stone Roses, and Daft Punk: read our full list of potential headliners here.
