Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The group will be performing seven gigs across Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Colombia, with the first show in Argentinan capital Santiago on 15 January.
Foo Fighters announced back in May that they would be recording a new album, accompanied by an eight-episode television series on HBO directed by frontman Dave Grohl.
The new record entitled Sonic Highways is the eighth studio album from the group and will be released on 10 November.
The first single from the album will be released on 17 October, the same day the the documentary series debuts in the US.
Sonic Highways has been described by Grohl as a “musical map of America” because each track was recorded in a different city across the US.
The songs were recorded in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington DC and New York.
Each track features local legends from each of the cities and has taken inspiration from the unique music of the areas.
The band are touring the UK at the moment and have performed shows at Birmingham, Brighton and the Islington Academy, along with several intimate gigs.
