Twigs filed a lawsuit against LaBeouf in December last year, accusing him of “relentless abuse” including sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. LaBeouf denied all of the allegations in a response to the lawsuit.
In a CBS This Morning interview on Thursday (18 February), King asked the musician: “Nobody who’s been in this position likes this question, and I often wonder if it’s even appropriate to ask… why didn’t you leave?”
Twigs replied: “I know that you’re asking it out of love, but like, I’m just going to make a stance and say I’m not going to answer that question anymore because the question should really be to the abuser, ‘Why are you holding someone hostage with abuse?’”
She continued: “People say, ‘Oh, it can’t have been that bad, because she would’ve left.’ And it’s like, no, because it was that bad, I couldn’t leave.”

LaBeouf is reportedly receiving care at an inpatient treatment facility. In response to the lawsuit, he told The New York Times in December: “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behaviour made them feel.
“I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalisations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”

Last week, LaBeouf’s lawyers said the 34-year-old actor denies “each and every allegation” made by twigs in the lawsuit, in the “defendant’s answer to complaint” filed on 5 February, according to Rolling Stone.
The response also denied “that Plaintiff has sustained any injury or loss by reason of any act or omission on the part of Defendant, and denies that Plaintiff is entitled to any relief or damages whatsoever”.
